Notice of Race of the Rolex Giraglia 2018 has been published, and registrations are now open.
Less than 90 days at edition number 66 of the Mediterranean classic; from 10 to 15 June with many new announcements; starting from the name!
The Rolex Giraglia 2018 Notice of Race has been published since few days now and online registrations have been activated. The document can be downloaded from the official site of the regatta: rolexgiraglia.com
The 66th edition of the offshore classic, organized by the Yacht Club Italiano with the collaboration in Saint Tropez waters of the Société Nautique de Saint Tropez, will be held from June 10th to 12th with the inshore races in St. Tropez and departure for the offshore St. Tropez- Giraglia- Genoa on Wednesday 13th.
As usual, there will also be the traditional Sanremo – St.Tropez regatta, with the striking night start on June 8th organized in collaboration with the Yacht Club Sanremo.
Among the novelties, a priority mooring place will be guaranteed to all boats with registration completed by March 31st 2018, both for the inshore races in St.Tropez and the offshore St.Tropez – Giraglia – Genoa.
Many new features this year are expected, starting from the name change and the restyling of the regatta logo. No substantial changes, but only slight corrections by name and graphics of the historic regatta that the Yacht Club Italiano organizes thanks to the thirty-year partnership with the “Title sponsor” Rolex, which will allow participants to enjoy an intense week of sailing and extraordinary events in the name of sport and fun. BMW, the institutional sponsor of YCI, will continue to guarantee the appreciated service of courtesy cars for guests and participants.
The name changes from Giraglia Rolex Cup to ROLEX GIRAGLIA, while the logo, which remains represented by the usual shield, marks small internal changes that maintain the “fil rouge” with the past.
In addition to these technical innovations, even in sporting terms the Rolex Giraglia confirms itself as an unmissable event with the organizers’ desire to raise the bar of the technical level.
In fact, many high performing yachts are expected to participate to this edition, having obtained the support and involvement of:
IMA, the International Association of Maxi and Minimaxi Yachts, which inserted the Rolex Giraglia among the 5 trials of the Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Challenge,
the Wally Class,
the Swan One Design Class (50 “-45” -42 “),
and, just for the offshore regatta, the futuristic and super-performing IMOCA
For all boats of class 0 and Swan One Design, dedicated windward-leeward technical and spectacular courses will be be positioned in the charming Gulf of Saint Tropez.
Still awaiting official form, the Barcelona-St Tropez regatta, starting on June 7th from the Catalan capital, organized by the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona, which will allow the transfer of the fierce spanish fleet IRC ORC, traditionally very competitive, to compete with the over 200 boats coming from more than 20 countries and thus confirming the absolutely international character of the event.
